I missed last week’s Rainbow Snippets, but I’m back with another offering from Hard Time (Responsible Adult #2) which went out on general release this week.
Here we have our two MC’s, Micky and Dan, where Dan discovers just how much Micky hides and how much he does for his disabled little brother, Flynn, since the death of their mother. Dan was already smitten, but after this there’s no way back…

“He wants to send it to Mum,” Micky explained. “We post his stuff here, then Mum gets to take it up to heaven with her.” He shrugged, nonchalantly. “Well, I take it and sometimes write a letter back.”
“Oh, God, Micky,” Dan gasped, clamping a hand over his mouth. “How? You…”
“You all right?” Micky asked, noticing the glisten forming in Dan’s eyes.
“You think you’re like your dad,” Dan replied, waving a hand at the tatty Cornflake’s box and sniffing. “But this—all of this. Everything you do.” He shook his head, his untamed hair wafting in the breeze, and looked Micky directly in the eye. “Your heart’s too big to be anything like your dad.”
Micky snorted. “Couple of years ago, I wasn’t,” he admitted. “I was a selfish little shit. My dad taught me you use your fists to get what you want. It was Flynn who taught me different. Which is why I need him, Dan.” Micky pleaded with his eyes. “So much more than he needs me.”
